I'll Vote Green

Earlier this year, I said I would make no endorsement in the 2004 Presidential race. I am sticking with that.

Nevertheless, today Ralph Nader picked Pete Camejo as his Vice-Presidential running mate. Pete Camejo is de facto head ot the California Green Party. He was my second choice, after Arianna Huffington, for California Governor, in last October's Republican Recall Ripoff.

While I will not be otherwise supporting Messrs Nader and  Camejo in their quest, and I am making no endorsement, please be advised:

In November, I plan to vote GREEN for PRESIDENT on the California ballot.

This reflects my judgement that Democrats are now a party of the Right. Excepting the Greens, there is no party of the Left.

Congratulations, conservatives, you've done it: you destroyed the Left in America. Now, it is only a matter of time before you complete your destruction of the country.

Now, for my cavils ...

POSITIVES

bullet

I agree with Nader that many of our major problems are attributable to Corporations. Our government is essentially Fascist, meaning it is a collaboration between politicians and the corporate elite. Government should regulate corporations, not be their agent.

Note: This problem is easily identified by the money flowing to politicians. Nothing will get fixed until the corporations and lobbyists are thrown out of the government.

bullet

I generally agree with Nader & Camejo about our domestic priorities: for example, universal (single payer) health care.

bullet

I generally agree with Nader & Cameo about getting out of Iraq NOW, and with a radically changed, non-Imperialistic foreign policy.

NEGATIVES

bullet

I do NOT agree with Greens and Democrats in their opposition to nuclear power and biotechnology.

bullet

I do NOT agree with Greens and Democrats in their opposition to NASA, and space programs generally, even if some Greens and Democrats pay lip service to those programs.

bullet

I do NOT agree with the sort of Luddite views popular among liberals, including unthinking opposition to globalization and a lot of science.

bullet

I definitely oppose those environmentalists who feel killing or maiming loggers, and anyone else opposed to their views, is acceptable.

bullet

I cannot support Democrats like Kerry and Clinton who really have few differences with George W Bush about United States foreign policy; i.e., American Imperialism.

bullet

I cannot support Democrats who have few differences with George W Bush about economic policy, tax cuts, etc.

More information: Nader's views are published on Nader for President.

Note: I remain registered as "declines to state;" i.e., unaffiliated with any party.
