How about one of Jack London's political books...like the "Iron Heel" or "Martin Eden" or "The People of the Abyss"?   London intrigues me, he always has.  I've been reading "Martin Eden", which is his life story - at least the class struggle part of it.  London fell from grace. His life and writing brim with Progressive struggle and contradictions. And he was our own darling, local boy...meandering the streets of Oakland. (London wrote 50 books and most of them are still in print.  That's a feat in itself.)
